The Smith family owes a big debt of gratitude to the researchers of the Winstead family tree. My great great grandfather was Luke Lee Smith, Sr. and he was married to Mary Elizabeth Allen. Mary’s mother was Susannah Winstead. Susannah Winstead’s father was John Winstead (Birth: 1774 Northumberland Co., Virginia. Death: 28 JUL 1822, Williamson County, Tennessee), and her mother was Mary Chapman (Birth: 1774, North Carolina. Death: 28 MAY 1822 Williamson Co., Tennessee). This is our only link to the Winstead family. Their research was so massive that even my own two sons were listed. The Winstead family research covers 36,546 individuals and 13,332 families, as of 9 MAR 2003).
