Editor, Don Smith: The Dumbleton Genealogy is dedicated
to my precious grandmother, Elsie Elnora Green Self. Her
father was Francis Edward Green and her her mother was Alice
Elnorah "Nora' Dumbleton. This, then, is the genealogy of her
mother's people, the Dumbletons. My mother and daughter of
Elsie Elnora Green Self, Mildred Frances Self, had two great
grandfathers who fought in the Civil War. Mildred's Great
Grandfather Major David Washington Self fought for the South
with Company B, 17th Louisiana Infantry Regiment, while Great
Grandfather Sergeant Horace Dumbleton fought for the North
with Company A, 32th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment with
Distinguished Service.

According to family oral tradition, Nathaniel Dumbleton was a veteran of the Revolutionary War. Only one Nathaniel Dumbleton was found on the internet. Unknown if this is our relative, but it is believed to be. Notice the red arrow below which shows that Alpheus Dumbleton was born in Massacusetts.
