Editor, Don Smith:
Our great grandparents were Frances Edward "Dusty" Green and Alice Elnora "Nora" Dumbleton. They grew to adulthood, fell in love and got married in Wisconsin. This then, is the quest for these two ancestral roots in Wisconsin, both Green and Dumbleton. The documents below were collected on their "Trip Of Discovery" by my first cousins, Donna Sue Davis/Doyle and Gloria Ann Davis/Evans.

Marriage of Francis E. Green and Alice Elnora "Nora" Dumbleton.
Trempealeau County, Wisconsin.

After his first wife, Harriett Deavitt, passed away at the age of 44 in 1874, Horace Dumbleton remarried Elvira Harkness on 19 APR 1877, Waupaca County, Wisconsin.

HORACE DUMBLETON'S DEATH CERTIFICATE
Cause of death: Cancer of Stomach. Date of death: 26 SEP 1893. Buried in Little Wolf Cemetery near Royalton, Waupaca County, Wisconsin.
Editor, Don Smith:
On this death certificate, the first wife's name is spelled as "Harriet Devit" and I think this is incorrect. The recorder of the document simply wrote it down as he heard it. According to church documents of marriages of 1848 at the Gilead Lutheran Church of Center Brunswick, Rensselaer County, New York, her name was given as "Harriett Deavitt". Horace and Harriett were married at that church on 9 SEP 1848. As she was present at her own wedding, she would have make certain that her name was spelled correctly.
